Drink-Walking.
Who woulda thunk it? It happens when we go to a BBQ
and, half way through, figure out that we ran out
of alcohol and decide we gotta make a run. In this
occasion we forget about the BBQ and just do the run.

Moocher!
One of the best things about the 'industry' is how
well they curb your desire to steal. They open up
the bar, have free give aways, and invite like minded
people. It keeps you honest...whatever. I'm getting
drunk.

our own personal video right from our Treo 650! Ok,
maybe it's not better but at least it's a FREE-cast. |

me to share the love with...well, my son, son! He's

Dunks—frayed denim, green accents—and

Eats
by Manuel Carlos
If I say the best Vietnamese restaurant is in Fontana?
You say whuuuuuuut??? I shit you not my friends. When
it comes to good Viet eats, people would think to
head towards Westminster, Garden Grove or even Pomona.
But just recently the dopest Vietnamese joint Pho
Nguyen opened on the border of Rancho and Fontana.

Stepped
up. Add love.
The interviews got heavy. From the
East Coast we had Afu Ra and Pharaoh Monch (Organized
Konfusion) and locally we picked Loot Pack (Madlib's
Oxnardian crew) and Style's of Beyond (who by the
way got a little lift recently from Shinoda and Fort
Minor). In skateboarding we went retro with Ken "The
Donger" Lieu and pushed San Diego's K.A.F.E.—the
only Barbershop/Skate Shop/Music Joint. We got Sega
to send us a Dreamcast. It was passed around like
a cheap whore. I was last to take it home. It was
two years later. You'd normally have to learn how
to make a fifi from a cellmate but we we taught freaks
how to make one for "lonely day" use. We
wrapped it up once again with a bevy of music reviews
and club reviews. BTW: Some of you promoters were
really good...some of you sucked cock, once again,
like a cheap whore. |

A
crazed team of people are good.
We got interviews with Guy Hartley
of (at the time of Fresh Jive) and Dan Castillo for
this issue. On the music side we got an interview
with BlackMoon. One of the highlights for me was going
to Laguna Niguel to the makeshift Rane offices to
sign our lives off on a BRAND NEW, unreleased Rane
mixer—it was their first in a series aimed at
the tablist. It was a tester. We broke the fader.
They took Jeff as payment. We featured our first real
four-page fashion section—scouted a location,
organized the clothing from head to toe, and had a
crew of people at the shoot. I'm telling you this
assembly of staffers were phenominal. For some reason
someone set out to get an interview with Nikki Tyler.
He got it. Mmmm yummy. Google her. |

FIRST ISSUE =+

This
is the issue that started up a team of crazed people.
In this issue we shot Kitana Baker
(Miller Lite cat fight commercial) before the mainstream
got to her and gave her bazillions of dollars—she
did us for free sucka. One of the guys, Luis, knows
karate flicks. He did a little thing on Jet Li's first
romp into the U.S. Market with his "Black
Mask" release. Nice movie, They even advertised
with us. On the skate side Dayne talked about
the similarities of Hip Hop and Skateboarding—and
where in L.A. to find decent stairs and rails to destroy.
We were the first to rate and rank the clubs that we
(you too) all went to. It was great to find yet another
reason to go to a club. In this issue we let you know
where all the record and crate digging spots were at.
We started shooting styled shots for advertisers (like
Liberty Board Shop) and it sparked a few of the team
to do an actual fashion section. To top it off we had
a picture of a bum in a red shirt holding up a "
One Two" for a cover image. Neil went back and
paid him 20 bucks because his mom said it was fucked
up if we didn't. I still think he should have used the
money to buy us more Hornitos. |
