Where to begin?!! DJ MOTHAFUCKIN’ QUIK!! For those that aren’t familiar with our audio-biographies, this is basically an audio book with Quik telling stories of certain songs through his career. To me, Quik is the most overlooked West Coast artist PERIOD! I know he’s mentioned a lot, but I don’t think he’s mentioned enough in comparison to all the classic material he’s put out and produced since the late 80?s. Dude NEVER disappoints! His new album, “The Book of David”, is no different. It drops on 4/20! Make sure you go support one of the few artists that’s still putting out quality music these days! Apparently at USC, they have run out of places to bone–these kids were caught (on camera) doing it on the roof of the 12-story Waite Phillips Hall for some reason. The photos were first posted online on Saturday night, according to an article in the Daily Trojan, and have already gotten the man in the photos suspended from his fraternity, Kappa Sigma. Waite Phillips Hall was designed by Edward D. Stone Associates and built in 1968, and appears in “An Architectural Guidebook to Los Angeles.” This is yet another feather in its cap. Radio Personality Big Boy Joins TBS’s Late-Night Talk Show LOPEZ TONIGHT As The Show Announcer
Big Boy, nationally syndicated radio host of the #1 rated morning show “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” is joining TBS’s late-night talk show LOPEZ TONIGHT as the show announcer.
“I said I want somebody BIG…nobody bigger or better to get a party started than Big Boy,” says host George Lopez.
“Big Boy is a radio icon and it’s a privilege to have him as part of the ‘Lopez Tonight’ family. He sounds good too,” added Robert Morton, Executive Producer of LOPEZ TONIGHT.
Big Boy grew up in Los Angeles, the second youngest of seven children. After college, he hooked up with the rap group Pharcyde and worked for them as a bodyguard, which opened the door to radio. At Power 106 Los Angeles, Big Boy has dominated the ratings in all of the timeslots he has occupied, including nights, afternoons and now mornings. His radio show has continued to grow and is now airing in nationwide syndication on Big Boy Radio Networks. The #1-rated morning show has led to industry recognition for Big Boy, who was named Personality of the Year four times at the Radio Music Awards and eight times by Radio and Records magazine. The National Association of Broadcasters has also recognized Big Boy’s exceptional talent with the Marconi Award which is the “Oscars of Radio” a very rare three times in 2002, 2004 and 2007.
TBS’s LOPEZ TONIGHT is one of the leading late-night talk shows with the youngest demographic audience with an average age of 32. Pascal vs Hopkins II press conference fight video
Jean Pascal and Bernard Hopkins traded blows at the first press conference for their rematch yesterday after Pascal called for Hopkins to submit to blood tests ahead of their May 21 fight.
The animosity deepened between the two fighters when Pascal claimed that some fans suspected Hopkins of using performance-enhancing drugs and asked the 46-year-old veteran to take a drug test.
Hopkins, who was having none of it, hit back at Pascal, calling the WBC champ a ‘scared punk’ who was preparing his excuses in advance of a beating come fight night.
The scuffle broke out as B-Hop tried to exit the conference only to be stopped by a frantic and animated Pascal. And the champ was quick to dismiss any suggestions that the melee was to promote the fight when he spoke with the media afterwards.
‘Bernard doesn’t like me, and that’s fine because I hate him. I’m telling you, it’s personal because Bernard Hopkins disrespected Quebecers by saying the people of Quebec are little people, that Quebec City is a village,’ said Pascal.

Power 106’s Big Boy has lost size, gained listeners

Morning radio is explosive. It lobs talent grenades at us at home, in the workplace, the car, on the walking trail. Stations know the more their formats are on fire with listeners, the hotter they can charge advertisers. If it sizzles, stations look for ways to spread the heat across the entire program schedule.We’ve told you the success stories of Ryan Seacrest, Mark & Brian, Mark & Kristin, Gary Bryan, JACK FM, Carson Daly, Bill Handel, and, more recently, Kim and Pat and Kevin and Bean. This week, the story of Big Boy, whose 5-10 a.m. weekday “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” has catapulted 106 FM to torrid ratings for hip-hop station KPWR. Call it the “Power” of Big Boy, who, by the way, never publishes his real name or age, and we will respect that here.
“We are up in every demo: 18-34 adults, men, women, 18-49 adults, men, women and 25-54 adults, men, women. While every day part looks great, I’m particularly happy to see Big Boy jump over half a share in his target demo,” Jimmy Steal, vice president of programming for Emmis Communications, told the website LARadio.com.
Nate Dogg’s funeral will be held at the Long Beach Cruise Terminal on Saturday, March 26th at 10am. The funeral will be open to the public according to Nate’s sister, Pamela Hale-Burns, who reports for the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

I have tons of respect for DJ Revolution—and I know he didn”t mean to do that whole “What did it feel like being the only Filipino out there DJing” thing. But being Filipino myself, and growing up with other Dj”s that were Filipino never gave me the feeling that WE were the minority. In fact, to me it seemed that, in respect to the West Coast DJ scene, we were the majority. Almost every crew worth mentioning from San Diego to the Bay didn”t just have Filipinos—they WERE Filipino…but they had that one white guy or that one mexican… or that one black dude. If you”ve never felt the confusion of being in that “One of my good friends is Black” conversation just watch QBert”s face in that section of the video again. When Revolution basically said “You Filipinos came up outta nowhere…props, bro!” Q”s attitude visibly went into WTF mode. But I get it. When it comes to DMC world champions this Filipino scene weighs thin.

Snoop Dogg has confirmed he’s signed up to star in a new “stoner movie” with his pal Wiz Khalifa.
The rapper, who has made a number of big screen appearances over the years, became close friends with hip-hop newcomer Khalifa while they were working on a track together, and they made plans to team up for a movie.
Snoop Dogg has now revealed they are set to begin filming a comedy called High School which he describes as a “stoner movie, a little something for the stoners”.
He tells Billboard, “He called me to be on a remix. From the remix we became close friends and spent time together… (we) made six or seven songs and created an idea to do a movie and a soundtrack, and just a bond – to build a friendship and build a brotherhood.”
The rapper’s last movie appearance was in 2010′s Malice n Wonderland, which was linked to his 2009 album of the same name.
Cameras are due to roll on High School in May (11).

Rapper Soulja Boy has been left devastated after his younger brother was killed in a car accident on Sunday night (20Mar11).
The Crank That (Soulja Boy) hitmaker, 20, broke the tragic news to his Twitter.com followers on Monday morning (21Mar11).
He wrote, “at home crying my eyes out I can’t believe my Lil bro is gone… today is so not my day.. Rip lil brother love you always.”
Few details have emerged about the incident, but the star’s manager, Miami Mike, confirmed the kid passed away in an “auto crash”.

With only five weeks to go till the premiere of NBC’s new singing talent competition The Voice, the promo has kicked into high gear. Last week a press conference for the series was held in Los Angeles, which gave the world its first glimpse at recently-signed judges Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton together. Now head below to catch the first commercial featuring the famous crew with host Carson Daly.
Cee Lo’s Grammy-winning hit “Forget You” plays in the background of the commercial as Daly and each of the judges go out of their way to give their take on why The Voice will be different from other singing competition shows like, oh, we don’t know, American Idol.
“The biggest difference between this show and all of the other vocal competition shows is that it’s a blind audition,” says occasional nudist Adam Levine in the spot. And what exactly is a blind audition, you ask?
Cee Lo explains that the judges’ backs will be turned to the stage while the contestants audition. “We get to concentrate on nothing but the voice,” Xtina chimes in.
